About Jesus - He Came Unto His Own - May 30, 2021

The mother of Jesus was a descendant of Abraham, Isaac, Israel (aka Jacob), Judah, Ruth and David. A knowledge of the history of Mary’s ancestors helps us to better understand what Jesus did and what he taught.

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. Genesis 12:1-3

Before the children of Israel entered the promised land, Moses summarized what he had been teaching for forty years:
Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people......
Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the Lord thy God hath forbidden thee.....
.....and shall do evil in the sight of the Lord thy God, to provoke him to anger: I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it;.....
And the Lord shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the Lord shall lead you......
But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul......
.....he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them. Deuteronomy 4:5, 6, 23, 25-27, 29 & 31

Isaiah prophesied:
...and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. Isaiah 53:2

Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shallo be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. Isaiah 56:6 & 7

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...... All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made......
He came unto his own (the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, Israel and Judah), and his own received him not. John 1:1, 3 & 11
